Types of Braces

Wigal Orthodontics is proud to serve the communities of Heath and Mt. Vernon with outstanding orthodontic care. We provide high-quality orthodontic treatments such as braces for kids, teens, and adults. We recognize that patients have different needs and desires when it comes to orthodontics, so we offer a variety of braces to ensure that every patient will have a treatment that suits them perfectly. Here are the different types of braces we offer in our Heath and Mt. Vernon offices.

Metal Braces

Metal braces are made of high-grade stainless steel and are the most common and popular type of braces. They are permanently bonded to the front of the patient’s teeth for the duration of the treatment procedure. Modern metal braces are lighter, more comfortable, and more attractive than the metal braces used in the past.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are made of a clear material. These braces are more popular amongst adults because of the transparency of the braces. Others will hardly even notice that someone with ceramic braces is actually wearing them due to the ceramic material blending in with the teeth’s natural color. The only downsides to ceramic braces are that they’re more fragile than metal braces and the elastic ties can sometimes discolor between orthodontic visits.

Gold Braces

Gold braces are stainless steel braces that are coated with 24-karat gold. Gold braces are similar to metal braces, only with the added bonus of aesthetic appeal. These braces are very popular amongst all ages and types of patients due to their unique and stylish look.

Invisalign

Invisalign is an alternative to braces that uses a series of finely calibrated and removable aligners that gradually move a patient’s teeth into the position as desired. These aligners are custom-made for a patient using advanced 3D computer imaging technology. Invisalign features many advantages such as being able to eat whatever you want and also being able to discreetly wear them because of the clear aligners. Invisalign is available for those who are suitable candidates.
